Welcome to Fort Sam Houston

The Fort Sam Houston Community offers 925 housing units from 2 bedroom - 1 bathroom to 5 bedroom - 6 1/2  bath homes.  The community is divided into three housing villages, each with its own community center and housing office.  Community centers feature a large pool, playground and resident center, with the full-sized Jimmy Brought Fitness Center located on-post.

Infantry Post was developed from 1886-1889.  A row of beautiful Georgian Revival single-family homes with wraparound two-story porches face the parade ground and are flanked by the barracks to the east.  The form is a horseshoe with Infantry Post Road providing a formal residential drive.  Duplex units were added to the parade ground in 1948.  This community is in the National Historic Landmark District.

Each pet-friendly home allows a two-pet maximum, and comes equipped with central air, refrigerator, stove and dishwasher.

In addition to ample playgrounds, each village has three tot-lots and the Fort Sam Houston Youth Center is located on-post.  Bowling, arts and crafts, fitness classes and eating vendors like Burger King®, Charley’s Steakery and Popeyes® are located on site.

Surrounding scenic parks include Salado Creek and McAllister, with ample shopping available along I-35 north. The Corpus Christi beach is a scenic 2-hour drive away, while Rock Port, Port Aransas and Mustang Island also make wonderful places to visit.

Several pre-school and elementary schools are available on-post, and the Brooke Army Medical Center is located less than a mile from Fort Sam Houston.
